Nine years of this blog's existence... It accomplished what I set out to do. I wanted to write for an audience, and I wanted to write regularly. It was a lot of practice, and it helped me considerably to prepare for my current job. Writing every day meant that I was ready when I got hit with jobs that required daily writing.

Speaking of writing, my second Word Nerd column is up. Now I need to come up with another one.

I do have some blogs in the works. I got a new Kindle and plan on doing a review of it soon, comparing it to my first gen Kindle. I also intend to write my reviews of the last few Doctor Who episodes and the last season of Sarah Jane Adventures. And I'm slowly catching up with my comic book reading, although I'm about a month behind still. I haven't yet read Aquaman #1! That's what happens when you get a freakin' cool job that swallows 90% of your time.

I've been at my current job for two months and a week. And I still love it.

I haven't been as faithful about writing every day for the last couple of years, but I have updated regularly. I don't have any idea how many readers I have since I removed all tracking bugs long ago, and I don't think I would want to know even if I could. I know the most important people in my world have the ability to keep up on me if they so choose, and that's what's important.

So, here's to the next year! Let's hope it's the best one ever!

Seven Years Ago

I started this blog... seven years ago. Wow. Impressive in terms of internet years.

Happy Six Years...

Happy six years of blogging to my blog-brother, Johnny Bacardi. He started two days after me, both of us inspired by Blog-Mama Elayne, who celebrated her six year blogiversary on September 7th.

Six Years...

...and still counting. October 22nd 2002, October 22nd 2003, October 22nd 2004, October 22nd 2005, October 22nd 2006, and October 22nd 2007.

I will never be an A-list blogger, and I'll never attract a huge crowd, but I'll always enjoy having my own little niche on the 'net. And enough good things have happened to me because of this blog that I think it's been worth it, overall. Here's to another six years!

The goal of this blog was originally just to get me to write or express something every day. I think I've accomplished it. Now I'll just keep it going.

Tomorrow marks five years since I started this blog. I'll have to pull together a blog entry with some thoughts... but that's tomorrow. Tonight... sleep is good.

Four Years...

Wow. I've been blogging daily for four years. And now I have a nice little four-year-old blog. I've made every usual blogging mistake somewhere along the way. And I don't plan to finish this any time soon.

Three Years...

Hi there.

Way back when, when I first started my first webpage, I tried to do this. This thing that's now called "blog"ing. But I didn't really get what I wanted to do, so every entry was this huge essay that made no sense...

And with those words, I started this weblog three years ago. Later that night I posted the first image on my new blog:

The next day I posted my first Rapid Reviews, which featured Smallville The Comic, Wonder Woman #185, JLA #74, and Green Arrow Secret Files #1.

My first Blogiversary was a bittersweet affair, and I hope the circumstances surrounding it never happen to us again (or, for that matter, anyone else (if you are confused, read the first paragraph of the entry underneath)).

My second Blogiversary was another look back, but it's pretty clear I was depressed that day. *sigh*

I don't think my streak of one entry per day is alive anymore. I think maybe I broke it during the 3-Day. Doesn't matter, does it? I did at least a blog a day for over two years.

Looking back, did I accomplish the goal I set for this blog? I wanted to blog to force myself to write something daily. It was (and is) primarily a writing exercise. Since I really didn't expect to gain an audience beyond my husband, my little sister, and my mom, it was never about who would read it (and I figured my mom and sister would stop reading eventually because the comic book stuff bores them).

I think, overall, I accomplished the main goal. It's kept me writing and kept me thinking about writing, which was a skill I'd lost when I left school. I sometimes find the comments of other bloggers to be really funny, when they talk about situations they are in and how they think "I could blog this"... that's how writers think all the time, that's how I used to think when I had a demanding teacher whose daily writing assignments forced me to come up with usable material all the time. If this blogging trend is doing anything, it's forcing people to think like writers. That's a good thing, in my book.

Eeeuch. I'm blogging about blogging. Best to stop right now... more tomorrow. I suspect I'll be pretty busy most of today.

ONE YEAR OF BLOGGING!

Whoa, in all the excitement of Eric going back to work and stuff, I nearly forgot that today marks one full year of blogging for me! That's right, this blog has now been active every single day for a whole year! Howzabout them apples?

Introduction and Greetings

Hi there.

Way back when, when I first started my first webpage, I tried to do this. This thing that's now called "blog"ing. But I didn't really get what I wanted to do, so every entry was this huge essay that made no sense.

It's been a few years. About seven, actually.

So now I'm jumping on the blogging bandwagon because this is something I meant to do a long time ago. The great thing about this is that nobody has to read my notes. Nobody has to care. I'm venting my steam into the pixels of the 'net and it doesn't matter if I never get a response.

Well, I suppose it matters a little. Everyone wants to be validated, even if the person responding to them disagrees.

Anyway. This is my "blow off steam" page. I've added a comment feature simply because a blog needs one. If you need to comment, please do. Otherwise I'm just going to spit out my nothings at the world in general.
