Hrm...

Is California Sinking? Then, 30+ years later, down it goes!

The Silver Age story (Aquaman #53, Oct-Sep 1970) is a wonderfully goofy one featuring one Eliot Harlanson (no, I am not making this up) a California millionaire who is convinced by agents of O.G.R.E. (Organization for General Revenge and Enslavement) that Atlantis is rising and California will sink as "nature's way of keeping things in their proper balance." In order to protect his home, Harlanson is convinced to buy and drop an A-Bomb on Atlantis. Black Manta gets involved in the fun, as do some amazingly capable US government agents.

At the end of the story, Aqualad asks Aquaman about the chances of Atlantis rising, but Aquaman isn't worried. He says that Atlantis won't reach the surface until "way after" the year 2000. Hmmm. I wonder how much "way" is in years?
