There's a shelf that runs the length of the room up there, from the entrance to the bedroom to the bathroom door. We've named it the catwalk now that he can get up there. He's still not really sure why we've done it, but he likes the stairs already.

And what a lot of fun he's having with his new view of our bedroom! (Now we have to start putting toys up there.)
Guessing that this was not the original intent of the shelving, but that you've accepted the adaptation. :-)
Actually, I installed the shelves for the cat. I'd been meaning to give him a path up there for some time, and finally got around to it.
Yes, we spoil our cat.
